Nounprosperity (uncountable)
SynonymsRelated termsFrom Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Prosperity is the state of flourishing, thriving, success, or good fortune. Prosperity often encompasses wealth but also includes others factors which are independent of wealth to varying degrees, such as happiness and health. Competing notions of prosperityEconomic notions of prosperity often compete or interact negatively with health, happiness, or spiritual notions of prosperity. For example, longer hours of work might result in an increase in certain measures of economic prosperity, but at the expense of driving people away from their preferences for shorter work hours. In Buddhism, prosperity is viewed with an emphasis on collectivism and spirituality. This perspective can be at odds with capitalistic notions of prosperity, due to their association with greed. Data from social surveys show that an increase in income does not result in a lasting increase in happiness; one proposed explanation to this is due to hedonic adaptation and social comparison, and a failure to anticipate these factors, resulting in people not allocating enough energy to non-financial goals such as family life and health. Good families produce good communities, then good communities produce good cities/towns up to the national level into global peace and prosperity. The more good we give out, the more good comes back just at the time we need it. Every good thing does start some place, just like every bad thing does too. I remember when divorces started growing in numbers, so did delinquent children, which in turn caused problems in communities, and on and on. I believe every family should do the best they can to nurture every member of the family Those members would go to school and carry good thoughts, just like people would go to work and carry good thoughts. And on and on. We are in dire need to getting our peace and prosperity back, but I don't know who's going to start it. Every day the papers and news are full of bad things. I googled americans for prosperity and it keeps bringing up Koch Family of Foundations. Asked by bob jones - Sat Aug 15 07:23:35 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. It's primarily 2 people, David and Charles Koch, the principal people in a series of charities run by the Koch family, dedicated to giving money to conservative and libertarian causes. The funding comes primarily from the Koch Institute, a $25 Billion dollar privately held corporation, the 2nd largest private company today (all the bigger ones are public). They have funded several conservative and libertarian groups over the decades, most notably the CATO Institute, a libertarian think tank. I hadn't heard about their connection to Americans for Prosperity, but it doesn't surprise me given the funding for the similar groups, Dick Armey with FreedomWorks and Rick Scott with Conservatives For Patient's Rights, for example. None of these… [cont.] Answered by Joe Finkle - Sat Aug 15 07:51:17 2009 Is general prosperity good for American society?

They correlate perfectly. The higher the prosperity, the higher the divorce rate. Bottom line: people stay together because they can't afford not to. People separate when they can afford to do so.
