I write whether their views differ from mine or not...I just expect more out of those whose views line up with mine. Answered by hsmomlovinit - Tue Nov 11 17:22:57 2008 When was the last time the Roman Catholic Church elected a non-clergy person as Pope? Q. Has this happened before? If so, when? I have heard that in theory, any baptized male could be elected Pope. I would think they would have to ordain him first, or something like that. A question related to this would be: Has the RC Church ever elected a person as Pope who was not already a Cardinal? Asked by "Kh a a a a a n n" ! ! - Sat Jan 23 15:24:27 2010 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Pope Leo X (11 December 1475 - 1 December 1521) was Pope from 1513 to his death. He was the last non-priest to be elected Pope. He is known primarily for the sale of indulgences to reconstruct St. Peter's Basilica and his challenging of Martin Luther's 95 theses. He was the second son of Lorenzo de' Medici, the most famous ruler of the Florentine Republic, and Clarice Orsini. His cousin, Giulio di Giuliano de' Medici, would later succeed him as Pope Clement VII (1523-34). Q. The election was very close. But Bush won. And now some people might have regretted voting for him. So how would the world/ America be different today if Al Gore was elected president instead of Bush? Asked by icantthinkofanickname - Mon Dec 14 21:36:44 2009 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments A. The election was close, but Bush didn't win. He got the Presidency, but he didn't win. But as to your actual question, there is a good chance 9/11 would not have happened, as Al Gore probably would have actually paid attention to the memo "Osama bin Laden determined to strike within United States," know what I mean? Al Gore also would not have spent any money in Iraq, rather than the $3 trillion Bush spent there. That probably would have gone a long way toward keeping the economy solvent. Who knows, we may already have had affordable health care without fear of it being taken away from us if an insurance company doesn't want to do its job.
