During the twentieth century, it became common to consider individual decades as historical entities in themselves. The long term trend for real estate since darn near the beginning of man has been up. There have been intermitant disruptions in the trend. After the plague hit Europe, real estate took a plunge. I am sure there have been plenty of other interruptions also, some possibly lasting a good while. But if we assume that there will not be any major economic disruptions, perhaps not a valid assumption in today's climate, real estate should do just fine. One of the factors that adds to the attractiveness is the wonderful very generous tax advantages given to real estate investments. This means more and more injured, sick, old people who need taking care of by a nurse. This means more hospitals are being built. When is the last time you saw a hospital go out of business? That will never happen! There are lots of nursing programs and lots of nursing candidates, but consider that nursing schools have a HIGH drop out or fail out rate. It is NOT easy. That is why there are 1-2 year waiting lists to get in, and out of a class of 100 students, less than half actually graduate and eventually become a nurse. You've also got people who just can't pass the NCLEX.
