How to improve audio quality on recorded videos?
Q. I have a nice little camera that records video, but I've noticed the audio quality just plain sucks. Its not very sensitive and the quality is bad. Is there any way to improve the quality? Or can I record the audio seperately? What should I do?

A. If it is an analog recording you can convert it to digital which will remove all the hiss.

How do I transfer audio from a camcorder (tape) to a computer in the form of mp3 files?
Q. My band had recorded a performance and we are interested in using the audio as a demo. However, none of us know how to transfer from the tape to the computer, and if we make it that far, how to extract only the audio. Then we would need to somehow convert the files to mp3. Any ideas? Thanks.

A. Which tape camcorder? Digital8 and MiniDV are digital tape formats that connect to your computer with a firewire cable between the DV port on the camcorder and the firewire port on the computer to import the video and the audio. VHS-C, VHS, Beta, Hi8 and others are analog - to transfer the video and audio to your computer, you need a capture card or analog/digital converter from Pinnacle (Dazzle) or Canopus (ADVC55). If all you want is the audio and do not need the video, ALL camcorders come with an AV cable that you would normally use to connect the camcorder to a TV to watch the playback. Instead of connecting to a TV, connect the audio RCA jacks to your computer's mic jack - you will need an RCA female to 1/8" (3.5mm) adapter. Some… [cont.]

How do you program an audio system to a jumbo universal remote?
Q. I programed it to the TV, VCR, DVD, and cable box but I can't figure out how to set it up to my audio system. The directions have the codes for it but there is no button for audio. It also says it can hold up to 8 systems but how if there are only 4 options? Also its the remote from Spencer's Gifts if that helps any.

A. I just looked up the user manual, and I don't think you can. It shows no option for a receiver, which is really weird. If you can take it back, I would. It's ridiculous for a "universal" remote to not be able to control a receiver. I have a Logitech Harmony remote, and it controls everything I own, and it has more slots for anything I might get later on. If you can't take it back, try the Code Search feature, set on Satellite, or Cable, whichever one you don't have. It's possible that it may be able to save your receiver's infrared signal under that section, but I highly doubt it.
