The 19th century movements of Post-Impressionism and Art-Nouveau led to the first 20th century art movements of Fauvism in France and Die Brucke (the Bridge) in Germany. Another German movement was Der Balue Reiter (The Blue Rider), which was led by Wassily Kandinski of Munich, who associated the Blue Rider phenomena with a spiritual non-figurative mystical art of the future. Kandinski was the pioneer of abstract art. Cubism was created by Picasso and he staunchly rejected the norms of Renaissance art. Dadaism focused on showing mundane and sometimes vulgar objects in a glorifying way.
