A. Hi. ABCO is Alexander Backer Company of New York, the numbers are most likely production or style/design numbers. I believe most of their items were made between the 30s-50s. You can probably find an exact price free at Kovels.com Hope I've helped a bit. ASK maryantiques ... GET maryanswers we've got your ERA!

A. The origin of American chalkware is generally attributed to the Pennsylvania Dutch, first appearing in the mid 1800's as a low-cost decorative alternative to the more expensive English Staffordshire figures. Forms most commonly found in chalkware are dogs and cats, particularly spaniels and poodles, followed by animals such as squirrels, roosters, doves and parrots. more information here: Note: there is an email contact at this site for an antiques appraiser that might be able to help you.

Q. I bought these at a garage sale. They say "1979 Miller Studio, Inc." on the side. After a bit of research they are apparently called "chalkware". Anybody know if they are worth anything? Thanks in advance! forgot the link!
