Folk art encompasses art produced from an indigenous culture or by peasants or other laboring tradespeople. In contrast to fine art, folk art is primarily utilitarian and decorative rather than purely aesthetic. As a phenomenon that can chronicle a move towards civilization yet rapidly diminish with modernity, industrialization, or outside influence, the nature of folk art is specific to its particular culture. The varied geographical and temporal prevalence and diversity of folk art make it difficult to describe as a whole, though some patterns have been demonstrated. Antique folk artLogo of the Folk Art Museum Lok Virsa in Islamabad, Pakistan.Antique the folk art is distinguished from traditional art in that while it is collected today based mostly on its artistic merit; it was never intended as a category to be art for art’s sake. Examples include: weathervanes, old store signs and carved figures, itinerant portraits, carousel horses, fire buckets, painted game boards, cast iron doorstops and many other similar lines of highly collectible "whimsical" antiques. Q. I tried to apply it to painted wood with a nylon brush and it looks streaky and I dont think it will stay on! This is on the bottom trim in the staircase. I love the gold color and don't want to delute that, but maybe I should mix the paint with another paint or a clear poyurathane? What would that do to the acrylic gold paint? Asked by wondergirl - Sat Oct 21 13:31:20 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. you would have to sand and prime the trim first. You might could get away with not priming it but you will definitely have to sand it so the paint will stick. Otherwise the paint will either peel or chip off the first time someone hits it with their foot. Also try to apply the paint with sponge applicator. Another thing is if you go to the paint store or Menards or Lowe's or a place like that, you can ask them and they can tell you what to do. Answered by chickmomma5 - Sat Oct 21 13:36:15 2006 What are some good folk/aria/art songs?
Q. I am trying out for a university choir and need to prepare a short excerpt of either a folk, aria, or art song. I am a soprano. I was thinking of doing a song by Haley Westenra, such as "Dark Waltz". However I'm not sure if that's really appropriate. Any ideas? Thank you so much! Or maybe "Dream a Dream" by Charlotte Church?
