Folk art encompasses art produced from an indigenous culture or by peasants or other laboring tradespeople. In contrast to fine art, folk art is primarily utilitarian and decorative rather than purely aesthetic. As a phenomenon that can chronicle a move towards civilization yet rapidly diminish with modernity, industrialization, or outside influence, the nature of folk art is specific to its particular culture. The varied geographical and temporal prevalence and diversity of folk art make it difficult to describe as a whole, though some patterns have been demonstrated. A janitor at a magazine company would collect the rejected and trashed pages from the magazines that the company made. He would cut out figures, clothes, and backgrounds from these, and use them, or trace over them, to create a comic/graphic novel. The most striking images are those of children with big butterfly wings flying, and sometimes being attacked by soldiers in World War 1 uniforms. Q. Tadeusz Adamski has artwork exhibits in Polish museums and there are private collections of his works, along with several exhibits all over the world. He received the Ministry of Culture award in 1990 and 8 awards from Polish Museums. His artwork can also be found in Polish Folk Art books according to this website: I aquired one of his signed and dated sculptures recently. It definitely appears to be his work, based upon the few pictures I have found online. The sculpture I purchased is a man playing a violin. The big question is...what is the value of his work? I have searched on all the different search engines. I also searched by translating English to Polish language and English to German language.
